Benefits of ZNF AI & Data Science Scholarship
Award value: N150,000 each to at least 3 awardees.
Requirements for ZNF AI & Data Science Scholarship
Applicant must:
- Be at least in year 4 of undergraduate studies and or not more than 1 year since project defense.
- Be a student or graduate of a Nigerian university or polytechnic (private or public).
- Have attained a cumulative grade point aggregate (CGPA) of at least 3.5* on a scale of 5 (from year 1-3).
- No restriction on the field of study.
*For polytechnic students or students of universities using 4.0 as scale, a rough conversion of the CGPA to percentage is acceptable. CGPA of 2.8 out of 4.0 or 70% will be considered. Medical students should present their Year 1 results as well as evidence of achieving "Pass" for the subjects taken in Year 2-3.
*Those that have graduated should meet a final CGPA of at least 3.0 on the scale of 5.0 or a rough conversion of 60%.
Selection Process
TIMELINE
- January 1 - Application opens
- April 1 - Application closes (11:59 pm Nigeria Time)
- June 20 - Applicants informed about the review decision
- July 1-20 - Interviews
- August 1 - Announcement of the successful candidates
Application Documents
- A personal statement (1-page)
- CV (1-2 pages – this CV should have a section listing AI/data science tools you have used or developed).
- One letter of recommendation on official letterhead (1-2 pages)
- Unofficial transcripts of year 1-3 academic records (applicants in year 5, 6 or graduates should include additional transcripts as appropriate).
- Undergraduate admission letter.*
- A statement of need, explaining why you need the scholarship (min: 100 words, max: 200 words).
- A work/practical portfolio providing evidence of your outputs in the area of either AI, data science or both. This could include publications, Github profile, software/App developed, website or database created/maintained, etc. Just as a reference, your portfolio may cover statistics/programming languages, SQL, power BI, Tableau, visualization tools, machine learning, and should demonstrate analytical abilities. You have the discretion on how to package the requested proof of experience.

*Each of the application materials carries its own mark. In addition, applications receive a score for completeness.
Upload your work portfolio separately
If your undergraduate admission letter is not available, then ensure that your referee letter explicitly states the year you were admitted into your undergraduate program. For the graduates, the letter must also state the month/year you concluded your final year exams.
