Rotary/IHE Delft Masters Scholarship for International Students 2024

The strategic partnership between The Rotary Foundation (TRF) and IHE Delft Institute for Water Education aims to tackle the world’s water and sanitation crisis by increasing the number of trained professionals to devise, plan, and implement solutions in developing and emerging countries. Through this partnership, scholarships are awarded annually for graduate students at IHE Delft’s campus in the Netherlands.

These scholarships are designed to promote long-term productive relationships between Rotarians and highly skilled water and sanitation professionals in their communities. Since the inception of the partnership in 2012, over 165 scholarships have been awarded.

Benefits of Rotary/IHE Delft Masters Scholarships

Gain access to a €34,000 TRF scholarship! Specifically tailored for UNESCO-IHE’s Water and Sanitation Master’s programs, this grant covers tuition and facilitates additional funding coordination by UNESCO-IHE, including expenses such as international travel for an all-encompassing academic pursuit.

Requirements for Rotary/IHE Delft Masters Scholarships

Students eligible for the Scholarships for Water and Sanitation must be provisionally admitted to one of the following degree programs at UNESCO-IHE (joint programs are not eligible): Urban Water and Sanitation, Water Management and Governance, Water Science and Engineering. 

Selection Process

Selection Criteria:

  • Scholars are selected in a competitive process. Candidates are chosen based on their ability to have a significant, positive impact on global water and sanitation issues during their career.
  • Successful applicants will have a strong academic background, significant and relevant professional experience, and demonstrated leadership in the community.

How to Apply

Interested and qualified? Go to IHE Delft Institute on ihe-delft-ihe-website-production.s3.eu-central-1.amazonaws.com to apply
  • Apply for admission for the IHE Delft Master program in Water and Sustainable Development by 1 April 2024 at the latest
  • Early on in the application process, search for your nearest Rotary club
  • Approach the club and request to nominate you for a Rotary scholarship
  • The application form needs to be completed by you and by the Rotary Club
  • After full completion of the form, the sponsoring Rotary Club submits your application to the Rotary/IHE Delft selection committee in The Netherlands by 15 April 2024 at the latest
  • After the selection all candidates will be informed about the outcome before 15 May 2024
  • Final approval is pending formal endorsement by The Rotary Foundation 1 July 2024
