Nuffic Scholarships 2021 for Short Training Courses at the Hague Academy in the Netherlands

Nuffic scholarships are available for short courses at The Hague Academy. Nuffic is a Dutch non-profit organisation which offers scholarships for training courses in The Netherlands. These scholarships seek to develop and strengthen the skills and abilities of professionals, in order to enable their organisations and communities to succeed in an ever-changing world. The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs funds the Nuffic Scholarship programme.

Benefits of Nuffic Short Training Courses

The Nuffic Scholarships for short courses at The Hague Academy (OKP, MSP and StuNed) cover the tuition fee, return flights (from an international airport to Amsterdam), insurance, and accommodation, in addition to a small Daily Subsistence Allowance.

Requirements for Nuffic Short Training Courses

  1. There is no age limit.
  2. The candidate must be a national of, and working and living in one of the following countries on OKP country list.
  3. The candidate must have a current Employer Statement according to the prescribed Nuffic Format.
  4. All the requested segments must be completed.
  5. The Employer Statement must be scanned with the original signature AND stamp of the organisation, and preferably on official letterhead of the organisation.
  6. The candidate must not be employed by an organisation that has its own means of staff development;

For example:

  1. mMultinational corporations (e.g. Shell, Unilever, Microsoft),
  2. Large national and/or large commercial organisations,
  3. Bilateral donor organisations (e.g. USAID, DFID, Danida, Sida, Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs,FinAid, AusAid, ADC, SwissAid),
  4. Multilateral donor organisations, (e.g. a UN organisation, the World Bank, the IMF, Asian Development Bank, African Development Bank, IADB),
  5. International NGO’s (e.g. Oxfam, Plan, Care);

Selection Process

  1. Your application will be assessed by The Hague Academy for Local Governance on eligibility, relevance, motivation and required documents.
  2. If you meet all the academic and eligibility requirements, you will receive an invitation from The Hague Academy to proceed with the final step in the application procedure.
  3. The invitation will include instructions to register your scholarship application in the Nuffic database.
  4. Applicants that do not qualify to proceed will not receive any further notification.

Application Documents

Prepare all your required documents in advance. Documents must be in PDF format and must not exceed 2 MB

Government Statement (see COVID-19 information below)

Employer Statement (see COVID-19 information below): All applications must be supported by an Employer Statement, and ONLY the prescribed Nuffic format will be accepted as a valid document. This motivation by your employer indicates the relevance of the training to you as an employee, and to the organization. The information in this document will be assessed by both The Hague Academy and the Embassy. The Employer Statement should be uploaded as 1 single PDF and should consist of the following segments:

  1. Declaration by your employer (Permission to participate)
  2. Plan of Activities (with clear goals and deadlines)
  3. Data about the organization/candidate including the indications regarding relevance.

Copy passport: Your passport must still be valid for at least four months after the application deadline. Applications with passports that do not comply with this requirement will be discarded.

  1. It is possible to save to continue at a later time. You will receive a login code to re-access your form.
  2. Before submitting your application, do a final check. Once you have submitted your application, it will no longer be possible to make any adjustments.
  3. Only applications with all the required documents, complete and in the correct formats will be considered as valid.
  4. Once submitted, your application will be assessed on eligibility and relevance.
  5. Once the deadline has passed, the application form will no longer be available.

Ensure that both your motivation and employer statement are clearly aligned to the Embassy Country Focus. Applications that show no relevance will NOT be eligible.
