Each year the Commonwealth Department of Education and Training provides funding to Universities to award scholarships to domestic and international students undertaking Higher Degree Research programs. 

Australian Government offers every year these kind of Research Scholarships to do a Masters by Research or PhD by Research. Almost every kind of academic field is available in the University. This award will cover all the expenses to complete your degree. More than 600 awards will be provided.

Benefits of Australian Government Postgraduate Scholarship

1. $28,597 per annum
2. Full Tuition Fee
3. Travel and removal allowances for students relocating to Canberra to commence their research program.
4. Thesis allowance
5. Dependant child allowance (International students only).
6. Paid medical, maternity and parental leave (See sections 51-68 of the Research Training Program Scholarships Procedure)
7. Suspension of Scholarship (See sections 43-48 of the Research Training Program Scholarships Procedure)

Requirements for Australian Government Postgraduate Scholarship

The Commonwealth Scholarship Guidelines (Research) 2017 set the basis for the conditions of award and outline the basic eligibility requirements for this scholarship.

Selection Basis

Candidates are ranked and scholarships are awarded based on a competitive ranking process, to the top-ranked candidates, subject to evidence they meet merit-based selection criteria, and subject to confirmation of a qualified supervisor, space and resources being available, in an area of research that is aligned with ANU research strategy.

1. Applicant must be Australian National or International.
2. You must have a Bachelors degree certificate
3. Scholarships are awarded based on an applicant’s academic record, research output, and prior research experience.
4. English Language Proficiency Certificate is require to get admission.
