The Institute of African Worlds (IMAF) is an interdiscliplinary research unit (medieval and modern history, anthropology, political science, archeology) working all over the Africas. It was created on January 1st, 2014, from the Center for African World Studies (CEMAf), the Center for African Studies (CEAf) and the Center for Social History of Mediterranean Islam (CHSIM). IMAF is a joint interdisciplinary (history, art history, anthropology, political science, history of law, archaeology and geography) research institute for studying the African continent and its diaspora communities.
