MUTA Education Scholarship Program 2026

The MUTA Education Committee is pleased to announce the call for applications for the 2026 MUTA Education Scholarship Program. This scholarship is awarded based on merit and is open to full-time undergraduate students enrolled in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), medicine, and allied medical programs.

One qualified recipient will be selected from each of the 14 Tiv-speaking LGAs in Benue State, and one each from Taraba and Nasarawa states.

MUTA Education Scholarship Program Benefits

Award Details

The Committee plans to award up to 16 scholarships for the 2026/2027 academic year. The scholarship amount for each recipient will be determined and announced after the selection process is complete. Recipients may use the funds to cover tuition, fees, research expenses, or other costs directly associated with their undergraduate studies.

Requirements for MUTA Education Scholarship Program

To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must:

  1. Be enrolled in an undergraduate STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), medicine or any allied medical field.
  2. Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.5 on a 5.0 scale (equivalent to second class upper degree) or 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

NoteApplicants who do not meet the minimum CGPA requirement will not be considered, even if they have the highest CGPA in their local government.

Selection Process

Eligible applications will be reviewed based on the following:

  • Academic standing - CPGA (50%) 
  • Strength of personal statement (40%).
  • Community service (10%)

Applications with falsified information will be disqualified.

Completed application form and all required supporting documents must be received by the Committee on or before 11:59 PM Wednesday, April 15, 2026 [US EST (GMT-5)]

Award winners will be notified via email, while applicants who are not selected will not receive individual notifications. The names of scholarship recipients will also be published on the official website at www.muta.org and shared on MUTA Education’s social media platforms during the second or third week of June. All applicants are encouraged to monitor these platforms for updates on their application status. The awards will be presented at a ceremony planned for July or August 2025, with the exact date to be announced once confirmed.

Required Supporting documents

  1. Personal Statement: A two-page, double-spaced essay explaining why you deserve this award. Include details about your: academic history and accomplishments, community service involvement, and career goals as well as financial need.
  2. Certificate of Origin: A document from your State or Local Government confirming your origin.
  3. CGPA Certification Form: Applicants must download the CGPA verification form here  and have it completed and signed by the Academic Officer or Head of Department of their institution. Applications submitted without this form will not be considered..
