ACU Coventry University Fellowships 2021 for African Academics

Applications are now open for two Coventry University Fellowships. uSupporting academic and research mobility is essential for the long-term vitality of universities. The ACU is pleased to announce that ACU member, Coventry University, UK, will host two Fellowships in 2020.

As part of the ACU’s established Fellowships programme, two Coventry University Fellowships are available to academic staff to support research mobility between Coventry University and ACU member institutions in Africa and India.

Researchers can apply for a grant to fund a virtual research collaboration at one of the following Coventry University research centres:

  1. Centre for Agroecology and Water Resilience
  2. Centre for Trust, Peace and Social Relations
  3. Institute for Future Transport and Cities

Benefits of ACU Fellowships for African Academics

Each Fellow will receive a maximum grant of GBP 5000.

Successful applicants will be required to submit two reports: one at the end of their fellowship and one a year later. In addition to reporting on the outcomes of the fellowship itself, they will report on the challenges and opportunities of online collaborations and any lessons learned. This element of the reporting will be shared with other ACU member institutions.

How to Apply

Interested and qualified? Go to Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU) on fs19.formsite.com to apply

Applicants should first identify a potential partner institution and collaborator at that institution. The partner must be an ACU member university in a country other than the applicant’s country of employment. Applicants should contact their potential collaborator to get their consent to the collaboration before submitting the online application form.

As part of the application form, applicants must:

  1. Summarise the work they plan to carry out during the fellowship, and how the collaboration will benefit the project.
  2. Describe the likely impact of the fellowship work
  3. Explain how they expect the fellowship to benefit their own professional development
  4. List the planned outputs of the fellowship
  5. Submit a time plan of the work (to cover at minimum February to July 2021)
  6. List the costs associated with the fellowship. These can include staff time, consumables, internet access and data, equipment, research data management, impact and engagement and open access. Please note that no travel will be funded as the fellowships are intended for virtual collaboration only.
  7. Submit a letter or email of support from their head of department at their home institution
  8. Submit a letter or email of support from the collaborator at Coventry University
