Requirements for York University Undergraduate Scholarship Qualification

To be considered for the International Scholarships, candidate:

  1. Must be an international student who is required to have a Study Permit to study in Canada
  2. Must have applied to an undergraduate degree program at York that begins in Fall 2021
  3. Must have applied to York directly from high school no more than two years after graduation, and have no previous university or college studies
  4. Must have an excellent academic record with a minimum “A” average or equivalent
  5. Must have demonstrated leadership through community service or excellence in the arts, sports, or other areas of individual achievement
  6. Must be nominated by their high school (schools may nominate one student only)
    1. The nominated student will be considered for the International Entrance Scholarship of Distinction, the Global Leader of Tomorrow Award, the International Circle of Scholars Scholarships, and the York University Academic Excellence Scholarships
    2. Candidates must speak to their school guidance counselor, principal, or administration about the York International Student Scholarship & Award Application, and receive confirmation that they are the individual from that school who has been nominated
    3. The candidate must then provide the name, position, e-mail, and phone number of the nominator in the application form

Documents Required for Application

  1. Must upload one letter of recommendatio
  2. Official Transcripts (all students are required to submit official transcripts except those qualifying as Mature applicants or as Visiting Students on a Letter of Permission)
  3. Course Descriptions (for any postsecondary work taken outside of North America)
  4. Language Proficiency Requirements
  5. Supplementary Application
    1. Schulich School of Business (accessed through the Schulich website)
    2. Faculty of Education* (accessed via MyFile
    3. Social Work (not applicable to Canadian high-school applicants; accessed via the Social Work website)
    4. School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design - (accessed through the  AMPD website)
    5. Lassonde School of Engineering (optional co-application, accessed through the BOOST site)

How to Apply

Interested and qualified? Go to York University on secure.students.yorku.ca to apply

Once you have submitted your application, you will receive an email containing your York reference number. You can then track the progress of your application and submit required supporting documents at MyFile. It is your responsibility to ensure York receives all the required supporting documentation and that it is received before the deadline date.

The Office of Admissions, York University, sends official communication about application and admission via email. It is important that you open, read and take action (if required) upon receipt of an email.

  1. It may take 6-8 weeks to process your application.
  2. The processing period begins after all documents related to your application are received. Supporting documentation such as transcripts, course descriptions and language proficiency test scores (if applicable) must be sent directly to the Office of Admissions at York University.
  3. If any required document is not received, your application will not be processed.
