The Yenching Academy (an independent college at Perking University, Beijing) hereby offers eligible international students, the opportunity to participate in its students fellowships in Masters of Arts in China Studies which is a fully-funded residential program with a wide array of interdisciplinary courses on China, within the Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines, and a curriculum which covers six broad categories.
Upon being selected for the program, the Yenching Scholars will develop their own study paths by choosing from six research areas and a variety of extracurricular activities, all the while working closely with mentors. In addition, studying at the Academy provides them with a unique opportunity not only for intercultural and academic exchange but also for personal and professional development.
Field Of Study:
The scholars will participate in infield studies to culturally, economically, or socio-politically significant regions within Mainland China. Each Scholar chooses one of six research areas corresponding to the thesis topic.
Note that, the research area does not affect course selection options or requirements.

Successful applicants will show how the Yenching Academy program is relevant and valuable for their career plans.
Preference is given to candidates age 25 or younger as of August 31 2020. For students from countries with mandatory military service, the age preference is 27 years old or younger.
Duration of Program:
Each applicant will create an account on the Yenching Academy admissions portal and submit the following materials in English:
Completed online application form;
Personal statement (750 words or less);
Curriculum Vitae;
Official transcript(s);
Diploma(s) or Certificate(s) of Enrollment;
Two letters of recommendation;
English requirements and minimum scores: A. IELTS (Academic): Overall 7. B. TOEFL (iBT): Overall 100 B. Cambridge English Scale (Advanced): Overall 185 C. CEFR: C1 level D. CET 6: Overall 600 E.
Native English speakers and students or alumni of primarily English taught degree programs are not required to provide English proficiency test scores.
Submission of English scores: For IELTS, TOEFL, and Cambridge tests, we will only accept scores sent directly to us from these organizations. Make sure you choose “Yenching Academy of Peking University” as the designated recipient of your scores when you book the exam time. For TOEFL, use the institution code: C488.
