VU Holland 2020-2021 Scholarship Programme for International Students

VU Amsterdam is one of the schools in The Netherlands, offering the Holland Scholarship Programme (HSP) to international students who are non-EEA

The Holland Scholarship Programme (HSP) is financed by the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, Dutch research universities, and universities of applied sciences.

Students eligible for the VU Holland Scholarship Programme are students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) who are applying for a Master’s programme in the Netherlands. Students from Suriname and Switzerland are not eligible to apply for the HSP scholarship

Benefits of VU Amsterdam Masters Scholarship

Scholarship winners would receive € 5,000 which would be given in your first year of studies.

Requirements for VU Amsterdam Masters Scholarship

  1. You hold a non-EEA nationality that is not Surinamese or Swiss.
  2. You are applying for a full-time English taught Master’s programme at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
  3. The degree with which you are seeking admission has not been obtained in the Netherlands.
  4. You need to have applied for VUFP. We will only award HSP scholarships to recipients of the VU Fellowship Programme.
  5. We select excellent students who contribute to the diversity at our campus.

Selection Process

The Central VUFP Committee decides which students will be offered a VUFP scholarship. All VUFP applications received by 1 February 2020 will be reviewed by the faculty of the applied for Master’s programme. Faculties then nominate applicants to the central scholarship committee, which subsequently awards scholarships to the most talented students. The award is based on the motivation letter, the quality of previous education and the student's academic performance therein. The Committee makes a merit based selection. A scholarship offer will be made to successful candidates

All students will receive an e-mail/ notification informing them of the Central scholarships  Committee's decision concerning their application.
Expected date:  1 April 2020 (8 weeks after the deadline).

Application Documents

  1. Copy of your valid passport or ID (ID = only for EU residents)
  2. Curriculum Vitae
  3. 2 Letters of recommendation
  4. Statement of Intent (Letter of Motivation)
  5. Diploma(s): A copy of the original Bachelor's degree or certificate.
  6. Transcript of records: A list of grades that your previous academic study/studies.

How to Apply

 Interest candidates will need to have applied for VUFP. VU will only award HSP scholarships to recipients of the VU Fellowship Programme.
