The University of Queensland, Australia is awarding the Master of Advanced Economics Scholarships which is open to International Students studying the Masters level programm(s) in the field of Economics taught at the university.
The Master of Advanced Economics (MAdvEcon) degree is designed to provide a pathway to the School of Economics PhD program. An alternative pathway for applicants to follow is through an approved Bachelor of Economics (Honours) programme.
Upon successful completion of the MAdvEcon, students may then apply to enrol into the PhD degree. Within the PhD degree, students take the second year of coursework before embarking on the completion of their thesis over the subsequent 2-3 years.
The MAdvEcon followed by the PhD programme involves a total of 4 to 5 years of study.
Please note, the Master of Advanced Economics degrees (16 and 24 units) are only available to students pursuing a PhD with the School of Economics.
Applicants wishing to undertake a coursework Masters program should consider the alternative degrees offered in the School of Economics suite of programs.
If you are considering applying for the PhD scholarship with the Queens University, please be advised that the PhD scholarship is for full-time PhD enrolment at the university only.

Financial support is offered for the duration of the Master of Advanced Economics (MAdvEcon). Successful candidates are eligible for a scholarship package of AU$30,000 per annum and a tuition fee waiver. Upon successful completion of the degree, we will then support the candidate's application for a UQ PhD scholarship. The school tops up all UQ PhD scholarships to AU$30,000 per annum.
Entry to the program is for RQ1 (January) only.
To enrol in the program, a person must hold a relevant bachelor honours degree or equivalent as approved by the executive dean; or a relevant postgraduate degree in economics or cognate discipline; and satisfy the Executive Dean that, based on the academic record, the person is suitably qualified for admission.
