University of British Columbia International Major Entrance Scholarship (IMES) for International Students in Canada 2020-2021

The University of British Columbia is pleased to announce that applications are now open for its International Major Entrance Scholarship (IMES) to be awarded to undergraduate students who will be enrolling for an undergraduate program at the University (UBC).

The IMES scholarship will be awarded to the students when they enter their first year at the University of British Columbia and can be renewed for up to three additional years of study depending on the student's performance.

Note, to be eligible for this award, the applicant has to be a 1st year fresher, enrolling directly from secondary school or post-secondary to the UBC and mustn't already be a student there. They also have to be an international student who will be studying at UBC on a Canadian study permit.

UBC Undergraduate Scholarship


Requirements for UBC Undergraduate Scholarship Qualification

To be considered for the IMES, you must:

  1. Be new to UBC, entering directly from secondary school or post-secondary (university or college).
  2. Be an international student who will be studying at UBC on a Canadian study permit (student visa). (Changes to your citizenship status will affect your IMES eligibility.)
  3. Demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and intellectual promise, as well as impressive extracurricular and community involvement.
  4. Not be nominated for a need-and-merit-based International Scholars award.
  5. Apply to UBC by January 15.

Interview date, Process and Venue for UBC Undergraduate Scholarship

You will be considered for this scholarship shortly after you receive an offer of admission to UBC. Scholarship decisions are made between mid-March to the end of April each year.
