The Universiti Brunei Darussalam is emerging as one of the leading institutions of higher education in Asia. It was established in 1985, opening its doors to the first intake of 176 students. Since then, UBD has seen an increase in the number of graduates, the introduction of new academic programmes, the enhancement of infrastructure and the development of graduate studies.

UBD opened its doors to international students from its inception.[3] Over the years, there has been an increase in diversity, with many students coming from East Asia (China and Japan), Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Requirements for Universiti Brunei Scholarship Program

Applicants must have:

• A relevant Bachelor’s Degree with Honors (Second Class and above) or its equivalent from institutions recognised by the University Senate unless otherwise stated (for Graduate applicants).
• At least a credit C6 for Bahasa Melayu in the Brunei GCE ‘O’ Level Examination
• At least a credit C6 for English Language in the Brunei GCE ‘O’ Level Examination OR Grade B in IGCSE English as a Second Language OR IELTS Overall Band 6.0.
• Age of not more than 26 years of age (for Undergraduate applicants) or not more than 30 years of age (for Graduate applicants).
• Unemployed
