Nigerian Science and Technology Innovation Challenge 2021 For Nigerian Students

The Science and Technology Innovation Challenge (STIC) is a novel entrepreneurship development program by the Nigerian Content and Development Management Board (NDCMB) and implemented by Enactus Nigeria.

This content is intended to challenge all students of accredited Nigerian tertiary institutions, to apply science, technology and innovation to finding home-grown solutions to everyday problems across all sectors of the economy.

STIC are in the fourth industrial revolution where technology is positively disrupting EVERY sector-including, but not limited to finance, education, health, transportation, entertainment, communication, and retail.

Benefits of STIC Innovation Challenge

  1. Encourage research and development (R&D) as well as local content development in Nigerian tertiary institutions.
  2. Facilitate the development of research-based, technologically-driven, innovative and profitable entrepreneurial ventures.
  3. Foster collaboration among tertiary institutions and the private sector for the development of local content.
  4. Inspire Nigerian students to embrace and imbibe the culture of critical thinking and R & D.
  5. Challenge Nigerian students to develop home-grown innovations that support the Nigerian development drive
  6. Position the Nigerian Content and Development Management Board (NCDMB) as a front-runner in encouraging R & D among Nigerian students while also stimulating ideas that can open up development in science, engineering and technology.

Requirements for STIC Innovation Challenge

  1. Teams of two students from any of the accredited tertiary institutions in Nigeria
  2. A team can only consist of students who are not graduating before December 2021.
  3. Students can be from any department in any of the tertiary institutions

Selection Process

Competition Stages

  1. Regional screening: All submitted entries are screened and grouped into three geographical regions (North, South/East and West) where the students’ institutions are located. Top 5 entries each are selected from each region
  2. Regional competition: The top 5 entries from each region advance to the regional competition stage. They are given seed fund of N500,000 (Five Hundred Thousand Naira) to develop a prototype of their innovation or concept which will be showcased at the regional competition. Top 2 entries each are selected as regional winners
  3. Bootcamp and mentorship: The 2 entries from each region then enter a one-week bootcamp where the business side of their innovation is further developed through one-on-one mentorship
  4. Grand finale: The 6 regional winners enter the grand finale where 3 teams will emerge as winners. One of these, will be STIC 2020 National champions
