Supported by the Brown Institute for Media Innovation and Code for Africa, we are launching a set of Solutions Journalism Fellowships.
We host webinars on how to use the database and reporting on maternal health from a solutions journalism perspective, we provide editorial and research support, as well as travel and reporting grants for journalists working on maternal health stories.
Applications for our reporting grants are accepted on a rolling basis, and grants will be issued every quarter.

This programme will support four journalists every quarter with a stipend to cover a maternal health story or introduce solutions journalism to their newsrooms. You may apply as a reporter or as an editor.

Selection Criteria: While it is not a requirement, journalists who intend to apply for the reporting grants are encouraged to attend a Maternal Figures webinar on using the database and reporting on maternal health from a solutions journalism perspective. If you’re considering an application for the grant and would like to ask us some questions, please join our Q&A session on February 6, 2021.
Fri Feb 26 2021 Application Deadline Submit a pitch for your story using the form below, be sure to include a letter or email from an editor of a publication who is interested in publishing your story.
Fri Mar 05 2021 Application Review and Decision We will review your pitch, contact the editor you included, and read your clips. If you are selected, you will be contacted with next steps. If you are not selected, your application will be held and re-evaluated for the next quarter.
Thu Apr 01 2021 Reporting Begins You will receive the grant in two halves: at the beginning of the quarter you are awarded the grant and when the story is published.
