International Finance Corporation (IFC) 2020 Summer Internship Program for Young Professionals

Applications are now open to the 2020 International Finance Corporation Summer Internship. This programme is aimed at graduate students who are either in their  first or second-to-last year of an MBA or similar graduate program. 

Summer Interns are hired for a duration of four to ten weeks between May and September every year in Washington, DC or directly in one of IFC’s country or regional offices.

Benefits of IFC Summer Internship

 As a Summer Intern, you will be assigned to an industry, regional or service department within IFC. Assignments cover various areas of work throughout the value chain, including business development, investment proposal review, financial modeling and analysis, advisory services strategy, and portfolio management.

Requirements for IFC Summer Internship

Candidates must be in the first or second-to-last year of an MBA or similar graduate program. Specific selection criteria include:

Selection Criteria: For investment positions, work experience (3-6 years) in international finance, which could include corporate finance, investment banking, financial consulting, private equity, credit analysis, or commercial banking

  1. Knowledge of sectors relevant to IFC and emerging markets experience preferred
  2. Strong analytical, communication and negotiation skills
  3. Business development and client relationship skills
  4. Enthusiasm for working in multicultural teams and across borders
  5. Fluency in English; proficiency in one or more of Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish strongly preferred
  6. Commitment to sustainable private sector development

Selection Process

All applicants have been notified of their status for the 2019 Summer.  Applications of short-listed candidates will be posted on an internal database accessible by all IFC departments globally. Individual departments contact candidates directly for interviews and usually conclude their hiring decisions between mid March and the end of April.

The short-list is created by the IFC HR Programs Team and shared IFC wide to hiring Managers by mid-to late February.  Managers are then free to hire from that list.  Those students hired from that list will be considered IFC Summer interns specifically for this program.  Applicants can apply using the IFC Career Compass site or follow the link.
