Following the success of the Ilia Calderón Scholarship in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024, One Young World has once again teamed up with the Jang-Calderón Family Foundation to support young Afro-descendant and Indigenous leaders between the ages of 18 and 30 who are leading innovative and impactful initiatives in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The Ilia Calderón scholarship will select and fund the participation of two Afro-descendant or Indigenous leaders who will be able to travel to attend the One Young World 2025 Summit in Munich, Germany.

Benefits of One Young World Ilia Calderón Scholarship
- Entrance to the One Young World 2025 summit in Munich.
- Hotel accommodation in a private room between November 2 and 6, 2025.
- International transportation to and from Munich (economy class);
- Domestic transportation to the airport for the international flight (economy class);
- Visa fees, if applicable;
- Public transport between the accommodation and the Summit venue in Munich;
- Meals during the event days (breakfast, lunch and dinner);
- English to Spanish translation for plenary sessions, welcome and closing ceremonies.
Requirements for One Young World Ilia Calderón Scholarship
Candidates must have:
- Be between 18 and 30 years old at the time of the One Young World Summit 2025, which will be held in Munich, Germany, from 3 to 6 November 2025.
- Eligible nationalities: Colombia, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Panama, Honduras, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Cuba, Dominica, Guyana, Grenada, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay, Brazil.
Selection Process
Candidates will also be evaluated on the following:
- Commitment and potential benefit for the communities or territories to which it belongs.
- Relevance of the initiatives you lead or have participated in.
- Demonstrate leadership skills.
- Address local and/or global problems in your community or territory.
- Have a track record of generating impactful and innovative ideas.
- Motivation to participate in One Young World.
