Airtel Africa Foundation (the “Foundation”) is the philanthropic arm of Airtel Africa plc, a leading provider of telecommunications and mobile money services, with a presence in 14 countries in Africa. Our mission is to empower Africa through financial inclusion, education, environmental protection and digital inclusion.
The foundation launched the “Airtel Africa Tech Fellowship” program to support young Africans from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue higher education in STEM, as part of the Foundation’s broader goal of increasing the proportion of African youth with advanced Tech skills and shaping the next generation of tech leaders from the continent. The Foundation is partnering with selected Universities to support meritorious African students who secure admission for a tech-related undergraduate program.
The program will be open to students of the following seven public universities in Nigeria:

Fellowship Coverage
The scholarship provides full academic support, including coverage for tuition, study materials, accommodation assistance, and a modest stipend. Exact disbursement details will be communicated directly to successful applicants.
Fellowships are for the full duration of the Bachelor of Tech, Science and Engineering programs for 4- 5 years
The eligibility criteria for this Fellowship are as follows:
Eligible Courses
Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Computer Technology, Data Science, Software engineering, Library and Information Science, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Telecommunication Engineering, and other tech or ICT-related fields.

What is the Airtel Africa Foundation Undergraduate Tech Scholarship?
It is the first-ever scholarship programme under the Airtel Africa Foundation, created to support high-performing Nigerian undergraduates pursuing degrees in technology and ICT-related fields. The programme provides academic and financial support to selected students each year.

A total of 100 students will be selected this year.
Which universities are covered?
Participating universities are reviewed annually. Eligible institutions for each year will be listed on the application portal at the time of the call for entries. For this year, the seven universities are: University of Lagos (UNILAG), University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), University of Benin (UNIBEN), Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), and Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED).
