2019 IOE-ISH Centenary Doctoral Scholarship for international (non-UK and non-EU) students

The UCL Institute of Education (IOE) is delighted to be partners with International Students House (ISH) to offer doctoral student in developing countries scholarship to study for 2019/2020 academic session.

About UCL Institute of Education (IOE)

We are delighted to be partners with International Students House (ISH) in these awards: the UCL Institute of Education - International Students House Centenary Scholarship, and the Mary Trevelyan Centenary Scholarship (in honour of the founder of ISH). ISH provides accommodation for a year, while the IOE covers tuition fees. Please note that these scholarships do not cover subsistence in London, travel or any other expenses. UCL Institute of Education (IOE) PhD Scholarship


Aim and Benefits of UCL Institute of Education (IOE) PhD Scholarship

For the Postgraduate Student Award, the IOE covers the student's tuition fees and stipend for one year of full-time Master's level study. The IOE Fulbright award is an exceptionally prestigious distinction, and attracts a world-class field of candidates.

For the Distinguished Teacher Award, successful candidates receive a Fulbright grant to cover their flights, accommodation and food for the duration of the programme. The IOE provides academic mentoring and a range of practical support.


Requirements for UCL Institute of Education (IOE) PhD Scholarship Qualification

Candidates should:

  • be citizens and residents of a low or middle income country with a GNI not higher than $8000 per capita (as per the World Bank GNI per capita classification tables)
  • have an offer to study a full time Master's degree in London at the UCL Institute of Education (October 2019 start)
  • not have studied or lived in the UK before.

Please note that online courses are not eligible for these scholarships.

Applicants for a Masters degree who are not holding an offer at the time of the scholarship deadline will not be eligible for this scholarship.

How to Apply

Eligible offer holders will receive an email with details of how to apply for this scholarship. If you have an offer to study an MPhil/PhD at the UCL Institute of Education (October 2019 start) and you have not received this email, but you are from an eligible country, please contact [email protected] with details of your full name and student ID number.

Applications are made through the IIE, but for detailed application information on the Postgraduate Student Award please visit the IOE-Fulbright page first.
